The National Hurricane Center’s 5 p.m. update, released a few minutes ago on the center’s Web site, says the depression has strengthened, becoming the second named storm of this year’s hurricane season.
There’s a 78 percent chance that the depression will be a hurricane by Thursday morning, according to the center.
